Local 120 - 2008 Negotiations
Negotiations began on October 3rd, with 13 members of the Management Team and 8 members of the Union's team present. Initial issues and ground rules were discussed, with bargaining sessions starting in earnest on October 16th. Tentative agreement on all issues was reached on January 23, 2008, and the membership voted to accept the agreement on February 14th.

The new agreement was approved by the Tacoma City Council on April 1, 2008, and the new pay rates go into effect on the April 14th pay period. Retro pay will appear on the May 2nd paycheck.

To all 120-CI (City of Tacoma) Members:

As you should already have learned from John, we have a tentative agreement on a new contract to cover 2008, 2009 and 2010. Your bargaining team worked hard and did a fantastic job of representing you at the bargaining table and are pleased to present a contract that we encourage you to support. I will be signing off the final TA (tentative agreement) documents this afternoon, and we will be posting them and the “redline” or “mark up” copy of the proposal as soon as they are available. In the meantime, I wanted to make sure to get the voting instructions out as quickly as possible so that members have as much advanced notice as we can reasonably provide.

My sincere thanks to everybody for your support in these negotiations. I am confident that we reached a very good agreement and am proud that we did so in such a reasonable amount of time.
