The protest march reached Boston City Hall, where they shouted "Shame on you" to city officials, for closing libraries and developmentally disabled facilities.

Lee Saunders
was elected International Secretary-Treasurer by a 4,304 vote margin out of over 1.3 million votes, to succeed Bill Lucy, who retired after more than 40 years of service to the Union.  Lee Saunders received 652,660 votes (50.1%)
Danny Donohue received 648,356 votes (49.8%)
